California in Burgundy
March 2012
“An ocean separates us, great wines unite us,” as Jean-Charles Boisset likes to say. As head of Boisset’s wine activities on the other side of the Atlantic, he brings a French touch to the California methods which adds a certain elegance and respect for terroir.
What’s more, the estates of DeLoach in the Russian River Valley and Raymond in the Napa are both run according to biodynamic principles.

These wines are mainly sold on the American market, but the Imaginarium, a showcase for the family’s wines in Nuits-Saint-Georges, has a duty to offer some of the most representative wines of the great vineyards of California.

DeLoach Chardonnay 2009
A crisp wine, bursting with fruit dominated by citrus aromas with a pleasant sweetness in the mouth. An ideal wine to accompany an evening between friends. €14.40

DeLoach Chardonnay Russian River Valley 2009
This wine expresses the grapes’ origins from plots at the heart of the Russian River Valley: Boriolo and Balletto. A wine that exhibits a great elegance, with citrus aromas giving way to notes of watermelon. Why not try as an accompaniment to Burgundy snails? The intensity of this wine means it can go with spicy dishes. €20.30

DeLoach Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2008
A different expression of Pinot Noir, this time from the Sonoma Coast. Overlooking the Pacific ocean, the vines benefit from warm days and cool nights, ideal conditions for the fragile Pinot Noir varietal. Vinification is done in the same way as in Burgundy, with ageing in oak barrels to result in a well-rounded wine with aromas of red berries, lent a spicy touch by the California sun. €20.30

Raymond R collection Lot n°7 Field Blend 2009
The particularity of this wine comes from its vinification method. It is made up of no fewer than seven varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Petite Syrah, Petit Verdot and Zinfandel, combined to illustrate the art of blending at Raymond Vineyards. This wine invites you on a journey to the land of red fruits and blackberries, with a little spicy touch to enhance the trip. €14.40

Raymond Reserve Selection Napa Valley 2008 Cabernet-Sauvignon
Here, the full depth of Cabernet Sauvignon finds expression. Generous and rich in the mouth, with complex aromas developing notes of dark fruits with hints of aniseed. A wine with great length, aged for 22 months in French oak barrels using 43% new wood. €27.40

Fleur de Lyeth 2009
Or the art of blending in the Bordeaux style. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec make up this harmonious, elegant wine. A delightful accompaniment for pasta with pesto or chicken brochettes. €14.40
