| The Drinks Business, January 2009 |
In a difficult economic context, wine and spirits businesses are continuing to make the environment a top priority. Journalist Jane Parkinson presents the “green” top 50.
Boisset comes 30th, mainly due to its French rabbit wines that come in Tetra Pak packaging – a fine breakthrough in terms of environmental protection. Boisset was also the first to package an AOC wine (Louis Bernard) followed by an American brand (Yellow Jersey) and more recently a Beaujolais Nouveau in PET packaging.
Every one of the company’s vines is either certified organic or on its way to gaining that status. Water and electricity consumption is reduced to a minimum in every vinification site and the company uses as many renewable energy resources as possible.
