Imaginarium, “The Imaginarium, an essential wine tourism stop
The Sound (Hôtel Sofitel La Cloche), June 2011
When was the Imaginarium created?

The Imaginarium first opened its doors in May 2006, an idea driven by Boisset, the biggest family-owned wine company in Burgundy and beyond, with a range of overseas operations including California.

What is the aim of the Imaginarium?

It is a wine tourism site located on the edge of Nuits-Saint-Georges that was conceived and designed to be a showroom for the group to boost its reputation among the general public.

What is unique about it?

The Imaginarium demystifies the world of vine and wine, by offering a range of themed tours in a fun and convivial environment in the hope of encouraging people’s appreciation of this fascinating subject. Wine is a story of men and women and the aim is to share that passion with as many people as possible in the simplest way.

What exactly is on offer there?

We offer a range of different activities, firstly "Sacrée Vigne" which tells the story of man and wine through the centuries. The design of the exhibition is very innovative and original and reveals an impressive collection of tools that come to life in this interactive visit. A second unique interactive show involves the world of Crémant de Bourgogne wines, with screens, sounds, smells and games for a fun yet comprehensive understanding of this world that combines glamor and magic.

After these two experiences, there must be a grand finale?

As you say, the highpoint of the visit is a tasting of wine; either still or sparkling. But there’s nothing rushed about this dégustation – we view it as a chance to really talk to our customers who are often intrigued by our interactive experiences and have many questions which we are delighted to answer, and to illustrate with the appropriate crus. Our message is clear: we want to make people love and understand the beauty of the Burgundy terroir, its wines and of course, the magnificent work of the men and women who make them.

A final word, perhaps?

I leave that to the 250 wines you can find in the Imaginarium boutique – each one has its own story to tell and there you will find the stuff of dreams.

__Article 12 : A tasting of Château de Rully 2000

Crushed fruit and a dominant note of cherry with a touch of licorice and spice. This luxurious red wine develops highly-seductive aromas. It is bursting with promise, full and tempting on the tongue to flatter the palate and with sensual fruitiness, breadth, impeccable balance and wild appeal.
