The maison Bouchard Aîné & Fils were
founded in Beaune in 1746 by Michel Bouchard with his son Jospeh. Since then, the generations
that have succeeded him have fought to preserve the same spirit, handing
down the savoir-faire that made the reputation of the house.
The Bouchard Aîné & Fils tradition
entails buying the best grapes, unfermented grape juice, and wines
from producers, then, after vinification, ageing them in cellars until
they come into their own. This "mixture" of activities of
dealer, winemaker, and grower can be summed up by the term viniculture.
Bouchard Aîné & Fils work with the
same growers from one year to the next which enables them to better
guarantee the quality of their supplies and to select the best products.
This partnership is reinforced by advice at the start of the cycle,
interventions during vinification and supervision of the land parcels,
as well as the support of an oenologist further down the line.
Under the supervision of winemaker,
Bouchard Aîné & Fils have developed a unique
and coherent style for each of their wines, based on three principles:
elegance without aggressiveness, structures and acid levels
that enable the wines to age well,
and remaining faithful to
the expression of the Burgundian terroirs and varietals.
Bouchard Aîné & Fils work with producers
from all of the Burgundy region, from Chablis to Beaujolais, and as
such, offer a complete range that covers all segments in terms of
price, terroirs and appellations, from vins de table to Grands Crus,
not forgetting innovative new products such as Pinossimo, a wine made
with 100% Pinot Noir from the Pays d'Oc region.
Bouchard Aîné & Fils is located in
the beautiful 18th century surroundings of the Hôtel
du Conseiller du Roy which is open to the public to discover the wonders
of wine through
a unique "journey for the five senses"… You won't
believe your eyes!
